EMS Gold Star Award
New EMT Intermediate Jessica Smith received her second Gold Star Award at the June 2006 dinner meeting.  Within the first month after achieving her intermediate license Jessica was able to successfully intubate a patient, established an IV and administered Narcan and D50.  All she is missing is an allergic reaction so she can use an Epi pen.  So if you're allergic to bee stings, look out.
Congratulations to Pamela Martin, who was awarded the first ever EMS Gold Star Award at the October business meeting.  Pamela, who was also honored as EMT of the Year earlier this year, was nominated by her fellow EMTs for her ability to work well with difficult patients, expecially those who are suicidal or uncooperative.  Pamela is also described as professional, courteous and caring; qualities that the MVFPD/YFD are proud of and her patients are thankful for.

EMT's Vincent and Berumen received the EMS Gold Star award for outstanding patient care at the January Business Meeting. They took the time on scene to treat a patient, using skills they have learned at our Department. These EMT's have a record of being outstanding and have raised the bar for the rest of us.
